Stainz Decoder isntallation revisited
|
|
Die Stainz das "Wappentier" aus Nürnberg stellt für viele
Modellbahner eine Herausforderung beim Digitalisieren dar. Einen
Umbaubericht habe ich bereits früher einmal
veröffentlicht.
Hier geht es um den Einbau eines MX690, der eigentlich recht einfach
machbar ist.

| Zum Öffnen der Lok sind
lediglich die mit den Pfeilen markierten Schrauben zu lösen. Die mit den
grünen Pfeil markierten Schauben halten einen teil der Steuerung der
Ausgefädelt werden muss. |

underneath the couples, see arrows on the Picture underneath. |

| Ich empfehle die grün
markierten Schrauben zu belassen und als Ersatz das Gestänge seitlich zu
entfernen. Das vermeidet das sonst nötige verbiegen, das oft zu Schäden
führt. Danach kann man die Motor und Getriebebaugruppe
entfernen. |

I recommend
to leave the green marked screws in place and open the screw on the
side. It avoids damages through bending the Distribution Regulator. |

Nachdem die Getriebebox ausgebaut und der Motorstecker entfernt
wurde, kann man den Schornstein abschrauben. Rauchentwickler abstecken
und den Schornstein herausziehen.
Dann Das Führerhaus abnehmen, geht etwas schwierig, weil der
Lokführer das mit seinem Arm zu verhindern sucht.
Unter dem Kessel die Halbschale herausnehmen. Diese wird durch 2
Nasen bei der Feuerbox gehalten, weiters muss die Pumpe auf der rechten
Seite entfernt werden, da ist eine Schraube in der Mitte. Der
Wassereinfülltrichter links wird lediglich abgesteckt

After removing the gearbox, unplug the motor
connector. Next remove the chimney by loosening the nut. Unplug the
smoke generator and remove the chimney.
Remove the driver cab. This gets sometimes
difficult as the engineer holds it with his arm. Just bend the fogure a
bit inside.
Remove the cover underneath the boiler. This is
mounded with 2 noses close to the firebox. You need also to remove the
pump on the right side. There is a screw in the moddle. The water filler
on the left side is just unplugged.

| Die beiden vorhandenen Platinen werden
komplett entfernt. Man braucht den Platz für den Decoder. Der vorhandene
5502x Decoder ist von den Fahreigenschaften so extrem schlecht, dass nur
eine Entsorgung auf "E-Pray" sinnvoll scheint. |

Both PCBs will be
removed. We need the space for the decoder. The existing decoder 5502x is
so extremely bad in its motor movement, that I recommend to throw it
into the bay. |

Der MX690 passt exakt an den Platz wo bisher die Elektronik war. Man
muss nur die Stecker seitlich abschrägen, damit der Decoder im Kessel
Platz findet. Der blaue Kondensator wird entfernt (ausgelötet) und liegend wider
montiert. Dazu muss man den Kühklörper abschrauben um an die Lötpunkte
unter dem Kondensator heran zu kommen.

The MX690 fits perfectly into the space. You only
need to cut the edge of the connectors to fit into the boiler. The blue
capacitor which stands straight is removed and bent sideways. You need
to remove the heat sink to get access to the soldering points underneath
the capacitor.

| Die Flachbandkabel werden getrennt und für
die spätere Verkabelung vorbereitet. Siehe Schaltplan weiter unten. Am
kleinen Stecker werden nur 2 Pole für den Lautsprecher benötigt. |

small connector there are only 2 wires used for the speaker. |

| Nach den obigen Maßnahmen lässt sich das
Gewicht wiederum anschrauben und der Kessel schließen. Die Kabel kommen
alle Richtung Feuerbox heraus. Nur Lv mit dem (+) gehen nach vorne. |

After doing this, you
can insert the ballast secure it with the screws and close the boiler.
All cables run out in direction to the fire box. Only Lf and (+) go
forward to the front light. |

| Die Kabel werden verlötet und mit
Schrumpfschlauch isoliert. Man muss nicht besonders auf kurze Kabel
achten. in der Feuerbox ist genügend Platz Überlängen unter zu bringen. |

Cables get connected,
insulation is done with shrink hoses. There is no need to keep cables
short, over length can be stowed in the forebox. |
| Die Drähte vom Rauchentwickler machen
immer Probleme beim Einfädeln. Es gibt da einen Trick: ein Stück
schlauch über die beiden enden und schon kann man die Drähte in einem
Rutsch durch das Modell schieben. |

generator usually are hard to install. There is a trick, simply put a
hose on front an easily push the wires without any hassle through the
model. |

Die ´Verbindungen zum LGB Stecker des Getriebekastens werden einfach
gelötet. Bitte aufpassen, die beiden mittleren Pins sind Schiene, die
äußeren der Motor. Ein verwechseln killt den Decoder fast sicher!
Die Verbindung zu den Rauchentwickleranschlüssen erfolgt mit Lötpins,
die mit Schrunpfschlauch isoliert werden. Damit kann man bei bedarf den
Rauchgenerator leicht austauschen.

The connection to the gearbox is soldered to the
LGB connector. Take care the inner 2 pins are track pick up. the outer
two pins run to the motor. Dont swap the pins this will damage the
decoder immediately!
The connection to the smoke generator is done via
soldering pins. Insulated with shrink hose.

| Die Verkabelung ist simpel. Folgt einfach
dem Anschlussplan der MX690 Anleitung. Da am Stecker 3 mal das (+)
Niveau vorhanden ist, kann man das Flachbandkabel bequem aufteilen. |

The wireing is really simple. Just follow the
connection specification of the MX690 manual. As the MX690 has 3 pins
with (+) signal splitting up the cable is easy.

Eine der großen Stärken des MX690 ist die tatsache, dass in dem
Decoder nicht nur die Geräusche für ein Vorbild drinnen sind sondern
gleich mehrere. Die Geräusche könne flexibel und einfach beliebigen
Tasten zugeordnet werden, ohne den Beschränkungen des NMRA Function
mappings.
Zunächst ist die Leerlauflast zu ermitteln. Damit kann der Decoder
dann korrekt auf Lastwechsel mit entsprechenden Geräuschen reagieren.
das Geschieht im POM Modus mit CV302=75. die lok fährt jetzt etwa 2
Meter um die Belastung auszumessen.
´Die Dampfgeräusche werden mit CV300=100 ausgewählt. Man blättert
dann mit F1 und F2 und hört sich die Geräusche an. hat man ein
passendes Gefunden quittiert man das mit F8. Am besten die Taste 2 x
drücken. Der Decoder reagiert nur auf Einschalten, war die F8 bereits
eingeschaltet würde das Drücken der taste nicht erkannt. Daher immer 2 x
drücken, da kann dann nichts passieren.
Die Anzahl der Dampfschläge wird mit CV267 eingestellt ich verwende
für mein Geräusch den Wert 95. Die Lok macht 4 Dampfschläge pro
Radumdrehung.
Die Restlichen Geräusche werden Mit CV300=Fn wobei N die zahl der zu
belegenden Funktionstaste ist zugeordnet. Also simpel und einfach, eeine
Binärrechnerei mehr erforderlich. Mit F1/F2 sucht man in der
Soundgruppe, mit F4/F5 wechselt man die Gruppe und mit 2 x F8 speichert
man die Auswahl.

One of the biggest advantages of the MX690 is the
fact that there is not only one loco sound inside - there are many of
them. The user can easily select them. There is no need to do binary
arithmetic top calculate NMRA Function settings.
First of all determine the empty motor load. This
allows the decoder to adjust steam sounds depending on the load. Just
Set CV302=75 in POM mode. The loco will run roughly 2 meters to sense
the load.
The steam chuffs are selected via CV300=100. Use
F1 and F2 to select the sound you like. To store the selection press F8.
It is best to press F8 2 times. The decoder only detects F8-on. So if F8
was already on you need to press it twice.
The number of chuffs is modified via CV267. I use
the valus 95 for my sound selection. The loco generates 4 chuffs per
wheel turn.
The other sounds are defined via CV300=Fn. Where N
i sthe function key you like to define. Use F1/F2 to browse through the
list of sounds. With F4/5 you can change the sound list, from one sound
group to the next. Pressing F8 trizw stores the selection.
